Friends recommended this place long time back because of the Muhammara. We were given instruction how to get here since our friend cannot remember the name. When we arrived, we were expecting it to be less busy but the restaurant was still busy even an hour before closing time. They serve mostly big groups, since we were only two people we were seated on a table in between big groups of family celebrating birthdays. We had to transfer as the first table was positioned in a very odd place where the AC was leaking. When we were seated, we weren’t given the menu. I asked for small room temperature water and the server gave me a big one. I smiled at him and said i asked for a small, he rolled his eyes at me and left. Then a different server gave it to me. Even though food was served fast, the service still needs improvement.
Here is my review of what we ordered.
Muhammara- It’s been a long time since i had a muhammara from a restaurant… very long that i made my own recipe. Their muhammara is different. Its tastier and has a creamy taste to it compared to the Dubai restaurants which has a more tangy taste.. Abu Waheed Darwisheh’s muhammara is a mix of sweet, salty, and creamy.
Muhammara and Qashqawan- This is only AED 5.00, really worth it! Its the Arabic version of margherita pizza. The muhammara was overpowered by the cheese, which I like. A different take on serving muhammara.
Baba ghanoush – This is a cold appetizer. It has roasted eggplants, tomatoes, coriander, pomegranate and walnut. It has tangy taste of a lemon and a little sweetness of pomegranate molasses.
Batata- interesting way of serving fried potato. Its a combination of french fries and potato chips. Salty with a mix of crispy and soft texture. It gets soft fast so better eat it before other dishes.
The food is definitely good, however the service needs a lot of improvement. It will also be better to check the AC leaks so it does not cause inconvenience customers.
