Al Nakheel Lounge: Tiramisu

Grand Hyatt is a hotel with its own cinema and houses different restaurants. What amazes me with this place is the hanging dhow. It seems like a floating boat inside a hotel. They also have plants and trees with small ponds and lake inside. The sound of the rustling of the water feels like you are dining outside and not indoors.

One of the restaurants in Grand Hyatt that serves decadent desserts is Al Nakheel Lounge, a 24 hour café known for its grand afternoon tea. Its a nice place to hang out if you want some quiet time by yourself or a catch up with friends. The place doesn’t say that you need to be quiet but when you get there, its so peaceful that you will be blended with the serenity of the place. We went inside the café and it took us 10-15 minutes before we can decide what to order. We chose Tiramisu and asked the lady to send it to our table.

We got ourselves comfortable talking about the movie and memories my friend had in Grand Hyatt then we realized that it took our server a while to serve the cake. Tiramisu are served cold so we were wondering why is it taking so long. We followed up twice until we finally got a bite of it. I never really order Tiramisu as I like my cakes with a crunch to it or something that I can bite into. Tiramisu doesn’t have that. Its a soft cake like chubby cheeks of a child, so what you are really going for a tiramisu is the taste. Al Nakheel Lounge’s Tiramisu has 3 layers of lady fingers that has a perfect blend of sweet taste of milk, sugar, cream and vanilla with the bitter taste of espresso with the unsweetened cocoa powder sprinkled on top. A tiramisu lover will definitely fall in love with this piece. The price is AED 40.00, it is a bit steep for the price of the cake but looking at the ambiance of the café you will know that the place isn’t cheap so expect the prices to be high as well.
