My first taste of kulfi at Kulfilcious Um Hurair is something that I will never forget. I am not a fan of cold desserts, but kulfi is an exception. Kulfilicious has another branch in Karama and it is more inviting than Umm Hurair, since the latter is just a small stall inside Grub Shack. Decorated with rickshaw, electrical posts, street signs… it will surely make you feel that you are on the streets of India. The ceiling is even ornamented with milk canister as the light fixture. The place is a bit small, and since its an ice cream place people wait to be seated instead of eating it outside so expect to wait for few minutes before you can get a seat.
I had the Malai Kulfi last time, I like it so much I wanted to eat the same thing again, but my friend said I should try another flavor. The server suggested Lucknow Royal Selection which is one of their best sellers. A medium bowl is AED 17.00 which for me is good for two. Lucknow is a creamy combination of saffron, almonds, cashew and pistachio. The taste is similar to Malai Kulfi, but it has additional flavor and crunchiness of the royal nuts added to it. Personally, I like the texture of this more than Malai Kulfi as I like my ice cream with something to chew on.
