I read one article that says quiet restaurants are for the rich, since quiet is becoming a luxury amenity. This is what I noticed with this newly opened restaurant in Karama. Milan Veg is an Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, with an eerie quiet atmosphere. It doesn’t say anywhere that you should be quiet but everyone seems to be whispering to each other when they talk. The restaurant wasn’t empty. Only a table or two were not occupied when we got there with 2 tables on the ground floor and around 9 tables on the top floor. It’s a small restaurant so I small sound can be heard by everyone.
When we were seated, we did not get the menu immediately we have to ask for the menu so they will give it to us. We ordered their North Indian Saturday Evening Thali which comes with this shot of welcome watermelon drink. The thali is consist of Gobi Rajma Masala, Dal Dorki, Chana Masala, Aloo Gobi, Chappathi, plain rice.
When I got my thali, they did not serve it with papad while my friend has papad. The thali is limited, so they can only give a second serving of 1-2 dal or subzi. When we finished, we ordered another serving of chapathi and informed them that I did not get my papad. They gave us two pieces of papad and, the chappathi we ordered and one serving of rice. My friend told the server he can take the rice back because we won’t eat it. He just looked back and continued walking, maybe he did not hear us. Anyways, we enjoyed our food, my favorite is the Aloo Gobi. Although it’s only one serving, it was still filling and it avoids food waste too.
When we finished, I ordered Malai Kofta for take away. I was excited to have it for lunch the next day, but to my dismay, it doesn’t have the kofta in it. I called Milan Veg to complain and they were willing to replace it with the same dish or any dish I want but there is no need for that, I just want make them aware that they need to improve their service.
