Pathil Restaurant has a unique origin and concept. It originated from the word Pathiri which means pastry. They are not just serving pastries, they call themselves as a studio snack house, where they experiment on snacks from different parts of the world. Pathil Restaurant’s is located right at the corner in front of the Karama Post Office. It has a brown exterior that made it look like a bakery, but if you will read the food they serve on their wall, you will know that they are not a bakery. The interior is made of wood which makes it feel homey. They used chopping boards as their menu holder and even wall decors.
We ordered quite a bit, stress eating at it’s finest. We were craving for a burger, they recommended the Tower Burger. We also ordered Chicken Kheema Pav, Chicken Frankie, Prawn Adda, Moroccan Shrimp Burger, and Chicken Fajita Tacos.
Here is my review.
Tower burger has two grilled beef patties in between egg, cheese, sauce, onion and buns. It is served with french fries. The patty is different with typical American burger. It has the same juiciness but tastier. It has a slight aftertaste of mutton.
Chicken Kheema Pav is minced chicken with peas, tomato, onion. We ordered the medium spicy. It has a peppery taste, but the spiciness was balanced out by the sweetness of the pea.
Chicken Frankie is minced chicken in a flaky bread. Since I had a spicy incident with Frankie before, we ordered medium spicy. People who love spicy food will love this. My first bite i can already taste the green chili. I love spicy food, and medium spicy was a little bit spicy for me. Best to order with very lesser or no spiciness to it.
Prawn Adda is their version of momo or dumplings with shrimp filling. The wrap is made of in house steam rice dough, which is really heavy and bigger than normal momos too. The filling is a mix of shrimp and potatoes with a Kerala flavor to it. I am not a fan of this, but it was worth the try.
Moroccan Shrimp Bun is something I thought I like as the bun looked similar to the dry buns you get from fast food chains. However, since it is also made in the house, it turned out to be really soft and not dry at all. The shrimp was tasty and creamy. It doesn’t taste Moroccan to me. Moroccan is usually a mix of cumin, coriander, ginger, cayenne pepper, paprika, and garlic. The shrimp tastes similar to the creamy shrimp pasta recipes I made… however, it is still my favorite. An interesting shrimp sandwich.
Chicken Fajita Taco is chicken breast, salsa, red beans, parsley, lettuce, cheese in their in house corn taco. My first bite on the taco made me ask them if they made it too, as it tastes different with store bought tacos. I was right. They made their tacos too which make it unique and made it feel like Abuela made the tacos from scratch.
