Almost a decade in the business and they still have not lost their touch on authentic Italian cuisine. Red Tomato Pizza is a homey and intimate restaurant serving cutting-edge (pun intended) pizzas, pastas, and lots more. A perfect place for a delightful lunch with your family or a pleasant dinner with your love.
Situated behind Mall of the Emirates and beside Citymax, Red Tomato Pizza is a barn-house type pizzeria (that serves a lot more than just a pizza) with monochromatic white rough walls making it look like it’s unfinished and gives you that warm feeling of a farmhouse. It is accented with rustic reclaimed wood furniture, antique framed pictures and decors. You will be welcomed by the accommodating staff and an open kitchen where everyone can see the preparation of everything from scratch to finish. Behind the open kitchen is the wood-fired oven where all the magic happens. The kids were fascinated with the scene that made them be still for half an hour while we select from the menu of 100+ dishes.
Eating out with two kids, a vegetarian, and someone with a sensitive tummy, I need to be careful which food to choose. For starters, I ordered Arancini for the kids and Bruschetta Rossa for the adults. Arancini are deep fried rice balls filled with mozzarella and bolognese sauce. Bruschetta Rossa used a wood oven baked bread instead of the usual baguette topped with diced tomatoes, chopped olives, garlic, herbs, and basil.
The kids loved Arancini. My dear nephew even asked for the small piece left on my plate. Bruschetta Rosa has to be eaten once served, the bread gets really soft because of the juices from the fresh tomato toppings. The fresh tomatoes taste like it has balsamic vinegar as well.
For our main, we ordered four types of pizza and a pasta. What I like about Red Tomato Pizza is that they can serve two different flavors in one large pizza, that way you get to try more flavors per visit. Margherita is a classic favorite for everyone, especially picky eaters like kids- tomato sauce, cheese, basil and Parmesan. Salsa Rossa is similar to Margherita but it has a little kick of spiciness. All’ Arrabiata is similar to Salsa Rossa but spicier and has fresh parsley toppings. Pesto is my personal favorite among all the four pizzas. It’s loaded with roasted vegetable toppings such as zucchini, mushroom, eggplant, sun dried tomatoes, pesto sauce and Italian mozzarella. It’s exploding with flavors. The pizzas are cutting edge literally and figuratively. It’s a thin crust that made it so light yet filling.
This may look like a simple Spaghetti Bolognese but it’s not. Spaghetti alla Parmigiana di Pollo has chicken in eggplant sauce, with garlic, onion, tomato and Parmesan. The tomato flavor is really strong that it coats every inch of the spaghetti. It is also served with side dish, a choice of mashed potato or steamed vegetables.
To end with a sweet note, we had Tiramisu Della Cassa for dessert. It’s a spongy dessert with a blend of creamy, chocolate and coffee flavors. All their desserts are made in house as well. We would love to try the other two, but unfortunately it was not available that time… one good reason to visit Red Tomato Pizza again.
